Burlington City Council
01/17/23

Welcome to Ultraground. Today, a startup stone manufacturing company is one step closer to partnering with the city to transform an old building and make it their new home base. We also have an update on a multifamily project, which is set to go before Council in February.

Armen Stone is partnering with the City of Burlington to expand their operations and bring their stone cutting expertise to the area.
They plan to purchase the former Carolina Box Company building at 322 Fonville Street, invest $3 million in the facility, and create 33 new jobs with an average salary of $52,000.
They have the support of the City Council in their proposal to submit an NC Commerce Building Reuse Grant application on their behalf, which will secure our investment and job creation in Burlington.
The Department of Commerce has already approved a preliminary grant of $200,000 for the project, and they have also secured additional funding through an SBA loan and a revolving line of credit from Fidelity Bank.
The building improvements will include a range of upgrades, from roof repairs to HVAC systems, to ensure that our facility is equipped to handle its state-of-the-art stone manufacturing equipment.
